FREE AGENCY WILL BE STARTING THIS MONDAY MARCH 9TH AT 6 AM PST. THAT IS WHEN THE BLIND BIDS CAN START BEING SUBMITTED.
TEAMS WILL HAVE UNTIL THEN TO POST ANY MAKE UP PICKS. ANY PICKS NOT MADE UP BY THEN WILL BE FORFEITED. BELOW ARE THE RULES FOR FREE AGENCY. KNOW THE RULES!!!
Bush League Dynasty has a "blind" bidding system. A GM will submit one, and ONLY ONE, bid per player in which they are interested. All bids will be submitted via Personal Message (PM) to the account named "fabids". Only the league office will view these PMs. There are differences in how you may bid on a MLB vs. MiLB (minor league) player.
MLB player bids must include the following to be considered valid:
*Your team (franchise) name
*Player name
*Number of years of the contract offer
*Total amount of the contract offer
*Average Annual Salary ("AAS")
*a breakdown of the contract per year or note it will be evenly spread.
Example:
Red Sox offer SP Clayton Kershaw 5 years, $100M
AAS: $20M
2015 - $20M
2016 - $8M
2017 - $32M
2018 - $20M
2019 - $20M
*** For contracts the lowest any single year salary can be is 40% of the AAS. The highest any single year can be is 160% of the AAS. (As shown above in years 2016 and 2017. 8m is 40% of the AAS and 32m is 160% of AAS.
Minor Leaguers are to be offered ONLY an offer indicating an AAS amount - NO years, total contract or annual breakdown is allowed. Any bids placed on Minor League Players with yearly breakdowns will be invalid. Like with MLB player bidding, the highest AAS wins the player. The player will receive this salary until either 1) said player has used all three of his prospect protected (PP) years or 2) said player is dropped by the GM
Example #1:
Red Sox offer OF Byron Buxton (0/6) AAS of $500k.
*** Please Note that the $500k salary that Buxton is receiving based on the Free Agent salary will replace his PP years until the Prospect salary scale is greater than his given AAS in the bid.
So for this example:
- In year 1 Buxton would make $500k instead of the $300k he was slotted to make.
- Year 2 Buxton will make $500k.
-In year 3 his salary will jump to $1m the way it would on the normal prospect scale.
Example #2: Let's say the winning bid for Buxton is above $1m dollars.
Red Sox offer OF Byron Buxton (0/6) AAS of $1.5m.
-Years 1-3 after Buxton's 1st ML qualified year he will make $1.5m per year.
-Years 4-6, Buxton's base salary on his performance scale will also be $1.5m.
WEEKLY FREE AGENT BIDDING SCHEDULE:
Monday 9am est you may send in 1 blind bid to the fabids account on any player who is a free agent on the host site.
Thursday 9PM EST - Is the cutoff for all bids to be sent. The submitted bid via PM is date and time sensitive and it dictates if the bid is on time or late. Late bids will be invalidated. No exceptions.
As soon as possible after the bid deadline, usually before Friday noon, all winning bids will be posted in the Free Agent Winning Bids section.. For unrestricted FAs, the winning GM must update his/her roster and team salary information within 72 hours.
If a player is not rostered on the host site and Proboards within 72 hours, the player will be rewarded to the next highest bidder from free agency the player was won. In the event there was no 2nd highest bidder, the player will remain a free agent and be eligible for bidding the next week. In both cases the original winning GM will be responsible for half of the contract amount for the life of the contract.
*** Follow the structure of the examples given above for your submitted bids and there should be no issues.
