Each team's roster will consist of no more than 40 players per team. Players can vary from Major Leaguers to players for minor league affiliates. There is no minimum/maximum to the type of players on a roster, so a GM can theoretically hold to 40 minor league prospects should they choose. On top of the 40 man roster each team will have a 5 man minor league roster that does not count against the salary cap. This roster can only be comprised of minor leaguers and once the minor leaguer reaches the major leagues, he is no longer eligible for the minor league roster.
***Empty slots on the roster or minor leaguers will account for $300k (league minimum) against the salary cap.
The inaugural first 5 roster spots of each team will be decided by the GM by choosing ANY player from the affiliate the GM represents or their minor league system.
Each team will have the following positions for the active rosters on the host site,:
(9) Pitchers
(1) Catcher
(2) 1B or 3B (CI)
(2) 2B or SS (MI)
(3) OF
(2) Utility (any position)
The players may be moved in and out of the “active” position spots on a daily basis and the other players on the 40 man roster will be on the bench or minor league roster. The statistical categories that will be tabulated to determine the league champion each year are split into two major areas. Pitching and hitting. The categories are as follows:
* Pitching – Wins, Saves, Holds, Strikeouts, ERA, WHIP
* Hitting – Runs, HR, RBI, Stolen Bases, Batting Average, OPS
Bush League Fantasy is a head to head league consisting of weekly matchups. One win will be awarded to the team who leads in the most statistical categories mentioned above. Due to the fact that there are an even number of categories, ties are possible in this league.
Each year 8 teams in total will make the playoffs, 4 from the American League and 4 from the National league. The 2 division winners in each league will make the playoffs along with 2 wildcard teams which will be determined by the top 2 highest rated, non-division winning teams. Division does not matter in the wild card race so it is possible for 3 teams from one division to be in the league's playoffs.
Seeding for the playoffs will also be determined by record, with the higher winning percentages getting the higher seed. In each league, the 1-seed will play the 4-seed and the 2-seed will play the 3-seed in the first round. The 2 winning teams will advance to play in their league championship. Then the winners of each league championship will take place in a matchup to decide the Bush League Fantasy World Series Champion!
**Should a tie occur in the standings for either the wildcard or division, we will use head to head record to decide the winner. In the event the teams split the head to head matchup we will then go by division record followed by league record as tiebreakers to determine the winners.
