When you select your initial 5 keepers and players in the Inaugural Draft, you will be taking on their RLC. Please note that arbitration eligible and prospect contract amounts are being considered. You do not have to post their contract amounts. To determine amounts we will use www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/. It is YOUR responsibility to look up salaries on this sight and post them with their salaries. Keeper Example: Red Sox keep- Dustin Pedroia 15:$12.5M, 16:$13M, 17:$15M, 18:$16M, 19:$15M, 20:$13M, 21:$12M Draft example: With pick 1.1 the Red Sox select Dustin Pedroia 15:$12.5M, 16:$13M, 17:$15M, 18:$16M, 19:$15M, 20:$13M, 21:$12M. ***Follow these examples and you will be okay. Please if you have ANY questions about ANY function (changing picture, how to send a message, finding contracts, etc.) ANYTHING please ask me via email or message on here or shout box. grungemaster@yahoo.com

What about players that are in arbitration?

If players are arbitration eligible and you select them as one of your 5 initial keepers you will get them for the 1 year and whatever $$ value is decided in arbitration.
For the RLC's, whatever they are making opening day, that's what you get them for. That means whether an arbitrator decides their salary or they reach an extension with the club to cover their arb. years, that's what you get them for.

So I can only keep Dee Gordon, Marcel Ozuna, and Jose Fernandez for only one year? That doesn't seem right at all.

Review their service time to see if they would receive protected prospect status. And if not, than yes you would only get them at what they are making opening day and can use a franchise tag or restricted tag on them at the end of the year if their contracts expire.

But they don't have "contracts" per say. I think there should be a system where we can keep players through their sixth year, just like MLB. Otherwise, I wouldn't have picked the Marlins - I would have picked a team with bloated contracts like the Red Sox.

Well the Red Sox were taken so you couldn't have had them. They will have a contract on opening day so you will get them for the one year at whatever million they make. And if they have protected prospect status which I'm sure at least 2 of the 3 you posted do, than you can keep them for 2 extra years beyond this year. There is a system in place to keep a player for minimum 3 years. It's just unfortunate that the players you may pick have either already used some of their protected prospect years.

There needs to be an arbitration system in place if we truly are going to replicate MLB. It's rather silly that none of this was explained in anyway before being asked to pick franchises.

What exactly was not explained? I'll try to elaborate it in the rules.

Given that taking on a vast number of RLC at once will really only be done this one year (inaugural keepers and inaugural draft) it is possible I left it out with plans to further explain it as the league fills up.
